We got our defence of the county senior hurling league division 1 title off to a winning start last weekend with a hard fought win over fellow Premier Intermediate side Carrick Swans in Carrick On Suir. Upperchurch started the brightest with the opening 3 points of the game and further took control when Jim O'Dwyer rifled to the net after 20 minutes. This set up a 1-10 to 0-6 point lead at half time. Swans came out firing in the second half though, quickly reducing the lead to 4 within the opening 10 minutes. Upperchurch did manage to find their feet after this and still maintained a 3 point advantage as the game entered injury time. 2 late points from Swans gave them hope of nicking a point, however Upperchurch held on for a 1-17 to 0-19 victory. Our next game is against Mullinahone on the weekend of March 30th in Drombane.
