Congrats to our senior hurlers who beat Drom & Inch in the county championship last weekend and in doing so renewed their chances of progressing to the county knockout stages. The sides were evenly matched till a Paidi Green goal 20 minutes in put us 5 points clear. Drom responded, narrowing the gap to 3 points at half time. 2 quick fire goals from Paidi Green & Paul Shanahan 9 and 11 minutes into the 2nd half put us back in control with an 8 point advantage. The expected fightback from Drom came but we were equal to it and some stout defending kept a large gap between the teams. A last second goal from a penalty for Drom meant we won by 3 in the end (3-14 to 1-17). Elsewhere in the group Thurles Sarsfields had a large win over Eire Og Annacarty which leaves Sars on 4pts, Upperchurch & Annacarty on 2 pts & Drom on zero heading into the last round of fixtures. We will face Thurles Sarsfields in Templemore on Saturday 25th September at 5pm
We will be looking to use the confidence of last weekend's hurling victory to spur us on in the 2nd round of the county championship against Cahir this Sunday at 5:30pm in Boherlahan. Adult tickets are €10 and can be bought at https://embed.futureticketing.ie/c/tipperary-gaa/ We are hoping for a good turnout to support the team and recover from the opening round defeat to Moyle Rovers. For those who cannot make it the game will also be streamed on our facebook page.
Well done to the junior hurlers who put on a very strong display overcoming Loughmore-Castleiney in the mid quarter final last weekend. The gap was just 1 point 11 minutes into the second half but after that our lads took control and won on a scoreline of 2-22 to 1-11. This sets up a semi final clash against JK Brackens on the weekend of 26th September.
Tonight's mid group game v Moyne/Templetouhy has been postponed as Moyne were unable to field a team. It is hoped to play it at a future date.
UNDER 19 FOOTBALL
The under 19 footballers crowned a successful week for the club with victory over Loughmore-Castleiney in the mid quarter final. A one point advantage at the interval was built on in the second half, helped by goals from Luke Shanahan & Tom Purcell. Final score was 2-7 to 0-8. Moycarkey-Borris await in the semi final next Wednesday at 7:30pm in Littleton
