We were defeated by Thurles Sarsfields in the mid quarter final last Sunday in Boherlahan. Playing with the aid of a strong breeze in the opening half Sarsfields took an early four point lead within 10 minutes before Upperchurch settled with the next three scores. Sars then took charge holding us scoreless over the next 15 minutes while adding 7 points of their own. Upperchurch did respond before the break but the gap stood at 6 points at half time. This lead was maintained throughout the opening 15 minutes of the second half but when Sarsfields scored 3 points in 2 minutes to pull 8 ahead that effectively ended the contest. The sides traded points to the end with Sarsfields eventually winning on a scoreline of 0-26 to 0-17. The two sides will meet each other again in a few weeks time in the opening round of the county championship.

JUNIOR A HURLING
Our junior A hurlers will be looking to get their first win of the campaign on Sunday when they play Moycarkey-Borris. Throw in is at the earlier time of 11am in Littleton. Best of luck to team and mentors.

MINOR HURLING
Our minor team came up two points short against the combo of Moyne & Loughmore in the mid championship last Wednesday night. They play their third group game next Tuesday at 7:30pm in Drombane against Drom & Inch.

JUNIOR C HURLING
The junior C campaign begins next Thursday night against Gortnahoe-Glengoole at 7:30pm in Drombane.

ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC

Just two weeks until Upperchurch Drombane GAA club holds their 24th Annual Golf Classic on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th of July, in Ballykisteen Golf Club. Entry for a team of four costs €220 and includes a round of golf, barbecue mid round and a meal afterwards. Excellent prizes are on offer.
