Last Sunday saw our hurlers overcome a dogged challenge from Gortnahoe-Glengoole in Semple Stadium and book their place in the county final. In a well balanced game there was never more than 2 points between the sides at any stage of the game and at the halfway mark they were tied at 12 points each. Gortnahoe nudged ahead in the closing few minutes but 3 unanswered points from Upperchurch put them into the lead with time almost up. Gortnahoe did have a final attack to try force the game to extra time but we held out to win 0-20 to 0-19. The prize now is a county final on Sunday 26th in Semple Stadium against Carrick Swans and a return to senior hurling for the victors. It would be great to see as much colour up around the parish over the next week to support the team.
