We got off to a winning start in the mid championship last Friday night with a decent win over Boherlahan Dualla in Drombane. After Upperchurch initially went 2 points ahead a Boherlahan goal 9 minutes in gave them a slim lead. Both sides traded points over the next 20 minutes till 3 points in 2 minutes just before half time saw the home side take a 2 point lead into the break. A goal from Jim O'Dwyer almost immediately from the restart stretched the Upperchurch lead to 5 but slowly Boherlahan chipped away at it and midway through the half they drew level. 6 minutes later they had pulled three ahead and with the momentum on their side seemed poised for the win. However it was Upperchurch's turn to take control and scored 6 points without reply to go ahead by three themselves well into injury time. There was more drama in store as a Boherlahan goal drew the teams level again, only for points from TJ Butler and Eanna Ryan to see Upperchurch prevail on a scoreline of 1-23 to 2-18. The next group game will be against Moycarkey-Borris on Sunday July 13th in Littleton.
