SENIOR HURLING
The senior championship games are coming thick and fast right now and last Saturday afternoon saw the hurlers face JK Brackens in the mid quarter final. After a tight opening half Upperchurch took a 1 point lead into the break. The second half though proved to be move one sided as Upperchurch outscored Brackens 1-12 to 0-5 to run out winners on a scoreline of 2-23 to 1-15. The goals came from Eoin Shortt and Matthew Greene. The semi final will take place this Saturday at 6pm in The Ragg against Loughmore-Castleiney. All support is appreciated as we look to reach only our 3rd mid final. Should we win the mid final will be played on Sunday Sept 3rd
SENIOR FOOTBALL
The senior footballers put in a stellar performance against Drom & Inch last Tuesday in the mid semi final. A high quality contest saw some fine scores from both sides especially in the first 20 minutes. Drom got an early goal to race into a 4 point lead but Upperchurch battled hard and by half time had turned this into a 3 point lead, thanks in part to a Ger Grant goal. The 2nd half was lower scoring but none the less exciting and despite a fightback by Drom we managed to hold on for a 2 point victory 1-14 to 1-12. This sets us up for a mid final against Loughmore on weekend of Sept 9th. It's a great achievement to have reached back to back mid finals straight from going up senior.
JUNIOR HURLING
The junior hurlers were defeated by Holycross/Ballycahill in their final mid group game last weekend which ends their participation in the competition.
HIDDEN TIPPERARY FUNDRAISER THIS SATURDAY

UPPERCHURCH DROMBANES FASTEST FAMILY
On Saturday Sept 30th Thurles Greyhound Stadium will play host to a relay race to find our fastest family. Teams of 3 (must have a gender mix!) will compete for this prestigious title where each team member will run a lap of the track cheered on by a partisan local crowd. Have your gang got what it takes to meet this challenge? If the answer is yes then you need to do 3 things:
– find two other family members who are prepared to give it a go!
– contact any committee member to get your spot on the starting line
– get training!!
Being a fairly modern outfit, we’re open minded as to what constitutes a family but our imagination has it’s limits. Preference is for at least two direct family members (siblings / parent etc, perhaps joined by 1st cousin, in-law etc. It goes without saying (but we’ll say it anyway) that the organising committee’s ruling on such important matters shall be final. Participants must be 18yrs of age sometime this year to participate – you can be as old as you like but you wont be getting a head start!!
We’ll also be running the normal buster dog race on the night, auction of the relay teams , live music and loads of fun. Ticket will be ready shortly so watch this space.
This could be your clan’s moment to shine so don’t be shy and get in contact if interested in entering.
